He is the Sun of Virtue

Muhammad white backgroundAllamah Busairi (Rahimahullah) says in his Qasidah Burdah

He (صلى الله عليه وسلّم) is the sun of virtue and they (the other Prophets) are the stars. They manifest their light for people in the darkness

This is a metaphor for them bringing the light of guidance in the darkness of ignorance

Bouquet of Excellences

Muhammad goldThe excellences of all the Prophets (‘alayhimus salaam) combined can be found in him

He صلى الله عليه وسلّم

is like a bouquet made up of every excellence

Path to Reaching Allah تعالى

muhammadJunaid al-Baghdadi (raheemahullah), said:

No one has reached Allah except through Allah. And the path to reaching Allah is following the Chosen One, al-Mustafa, Sallallahu ‘alaihi Wasallam

“Say, if you love Allah, then follow me and Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.” [3:31]

Meditation before Action to act on the Sunnah

muhammad on pink roseDr Abdul Hayy ‘Aarifi (Raheemahullah) said he made a concerted effort for years to develop correct intention of obedience to the Sunnah. Before any action he spent a few moments to ponder on the gift and bounty from Allah ta’ala and then he would say to himself that it was the practice of Allah’s beloved Messenger sallallaahu ‘aayhi wasallam to express gratitude on the bounties of Allah ta’ala. Only then would he proceed with the action in keeping with the Sunnah.

He followed this method of meditation before proceeding to eat when delicious food was placed in front of him, even if he was extremely hungry, or drinking a glass of cold water in intense thirst. When his gaze fell on his beloved child he would meditate before taking the child lovingly on his lap in keeping with the sunnah of Allah’s beloved Messenger sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam.

After a lengthy period of time this form of meditation to make an intention to act upon every Sunnah from morning till night, resulted in reaching a stage where an intention automatically came to mind. He used to say,

Deen is in reality the changing of one’s point of view. Acts which we consider worldly remain the same but they are converted to acts of worship and essential parts of Deen.

Ana Uhibbu Muhammad, Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلّم

muhammadroseWe should nurture within our hearts true and sincere love for Rasoolullaah  صلى الله عليه وسلّم more than any other after Allah Ta’ala.

I love Rasoolullaah  صلى الله عليه وسلّم

Easy to say but what proof is there?

The proof of this love is in the obedience of Rasoolullaah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam and in remembering him by sending abundant salaat and salaam upon him.

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ وَ سَلِّم دَائِمًا أَبَدًا عَلَى حَبِيبِكَ خَيرِ الخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ

Becoming the Beloved of Allah

muhammadThere are many benefits of studying and implementing the blessed Seerah in our life; one great benefit is that one will become the beloved of Allah.  Allah Himself says in the Qur’an,

“Say: ‘If you love Allah then follow me; Allah will love you.’” [3:31]

Explaining this aayah, my respected teacher of tafsir, Shaykh Sulayman Lasania says,

“Allah is informing us that if you want to become my beloved, emulate my beloved and upon seeing this resemblance with my beloved, I will make you my beloved!”

Excerpt from “The Blessed Seerah- our solution” (Riyadhul Jannah, Vol 25 Issue 11 )

Sad? Find comfort in the Poem of the Seerah

muhammad-r-caligraphyWhen you think of the messenger of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) , you think of someone who lived a FULL and HAPPY life, always smiling. Yet, his life could have easily been framed to be one of misfortune and sadness, for if anyone had a reason to be sad, it would have been him ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)  Orphan, widower, survived 6 children..it goes on..it reminds us of the true reality of tests and pain, for they are all aspects of a world that is by definition imperfect and temporary that we may aspire to go to where there is no fear or grief ever again.

Read the poem of the Seerah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad  ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)  here…

“If only I could!”

cakesImagine the longing of a diabetic who is forbidden to taste any of the delicious cakes placed in front of him. His longing will be such that he would say to himself,

If only I could!

Such should be our love for the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad  صلى الله عليه وسلّم that we should have a longing to perform even those Sunnats which are impossible for us to perform i.e. tying a stone to the stomach during extreme hunger.

From a talk by Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat

Muhammad the Elect

muhammd-on-roseThere is a tradition of the prince of created beings, the paragon of existing things, the mercy to the inhabitants of the world, the purest of mankind and the completion of the revolving ages, Muhammad the elect, upon whom be blessing and peace:

Intercessor, obeyed, prophet, gracious,

Bountiful, majestic, affable, marked with the seal of God.

What danger is there to the wall of the faithful with thee for a buttress?

What fear of the waves of the sea has he whose pilot is Noah?

He attained exaltation by his perfection.

He dispelled darkness by his beauty.

Beauteous are all his qualities,

Benediction be on him and on his family.

From the Gulistan of Sa’di
